I haven’t posted about my last couple of lessons, as they’ve been mostly the same. Practicing going over cross rails and low verticals. The biggest thing is just getting used to the motion of the horse going over the jump and not losing my balance.
We’re also getting ready for our first show. Actually, it’s just my first show. The horse has been to several! So, I’ve been ordering a show jack and shirt. I had to buy new stirrup leathers because mine didn’t have enough holes and one of them tore. I think they were made of rather cheap leather because my new ones feel awesome. Who knew your stirrup leathers could make such a difference!
It’s been getting cooler here as well and I expected Mystic to be a little frisky when I rode Sunday night, but he did surprisingly well. He was a very good boy, very responsive and very willing. He occasionally has a moment of objection, where he stops and refuses to move forward, but he eventually moves on. You really know that he’s done when he turns back and nudges your boot!
I’m riding again tomorrow and should be able to do some more jumping, so just trying to get prepared for the show!
