About Valerie Mellema

Valerie Mellema is a freelance writer residing in Amarillo, Texas.  She has a BS in Agribusiness/Equine Business & Industry with a Minor in Animal Science from West Texas A&M University.  She has written hundreds of articles and eBooks on horse care and training. She has been riding, training and caring for horses for over 20 years, starting with a Welsh Paint pony at the age of 5.

Valerie is also the owner of the ghostwriting company Words You Want.  She is a published author and has been published in The Score, the membership magazine of the National Team Roping Horse Association. She has worked at the American Quarter Horse Association as well and has written hundreds of articles for equine websites across the ‘net.
